NEW YEAR; NEW ME

Hello; it has been a while hope you have been well.   It’s the New Year and for the first time in a while, I didn’t see any new year new me statuses. Have people given up on changing their lives? Or are we overwhelmed by the state of the world which seems to not be changing?  In our capacity, we cannot change the world but what we can change is our look at life. We set targets for new year’s resolutions but we rarely ever get to attain a satisfactory result at the end of the year. The reason for this is we always procrastinate for example I have been thinking I need to lose some weight so I have been thinking of the diet when I asked when I plan to start it I said the 10th and knowing myself I will keep procrastinating. So because we do not start the year on the right footing we set ourselves up for failure. So in the same way, if we wish to succeed in any of our targets, plans let’s start on the right footing. ILWA NDODOO

So I saw this post this other day it says refuse to be a broke man ILWA NDODOO.  This is in short a message that encourages a man to hustle, work hard and make money. Although I find the hustle mentality amazing and encouraging I feel we forget what’s most important so I have a different message today. I say ILWA NDODOO to be a wise man of dignity and honor because regardless of how much money in the world you amass you will never be able to buy wisdom, honor and dignity.

Dignity is the state or quality of being worthy of honor or respect.   As I said the hustle message is all that but is your hustle one which gives you dignity. According to Jonathan Glennie  the saddest thing in the world is not poverty; it's loss of dignity. For me these words ring true because where is the joy in lounging in wealth when you are ashamed to speak of how you gained it. Where is the joy in saying you are wealthy when you can’t sleep peacefully at night, when your dirty laundry is hung in the streets for the world to see.

Aristotle once said dignity does not consist in possessing honors, but in the consciousness that we deserve them. So think to yourself what price am I willing to pay to accumulate riches is losing my sense of self-worth it in the name of the hustle. Dignity may not in itself put food on the table but dignity, hard work in the Lord will surely do this for you. The bible says in 2 Timothy 2:15   do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.  If the Lord has seen it important that one be dignified who are we to say otherwise?

So I say ILWA NDODOO to not only have money in the bank but be to be a wise man of dignity and honor. Let not people on the outside tell you otherwise as Vartan Gregorian says dignity is not negotiable, dignity is the honor of the family. Be a man whose name people are not ashamed to say in public. ILWA for yourself so that you may sleep with peace of mind, ILWA for yourself so that your presence in a room commands respect and not scorn from man and lastly ILWA for your name ILWA NDODOO  let not your children wish to be rid of your name ILWA for the legacy you leave behind for them.  Remember always that riches and wealth are blessings from God and manufacturing them on our own will only lead to pain and undue suffering in the future. Do not hurry the process of God what he has promised he will surely give in due time.

  3. Refreshing to hear this approach of ilwa ndodoo. This is great. Thank you blogger :)

Is it ilwa ndodoo or ilwa ndoda? You refer to men in this post, it would make sense to say ilwa ndoda. Ndoda meaning men.

    Otherwise great read. Love it.
