NEW YEAR; NEW ME

Hello; it has been a while hope you have been well.   It’s the New Year and for the first time in a while, I didn’t see any new year new me statuses. Have people given up on changing their lives? Or are we overwhelmed by the state of the world which seems to not be changing?  In our capacity, we cannot change the world but what we can change is our look at life. We set targets for new year’s resolutions but we rarely ever get to attain a satisfactory result at the end of the year. The reason for this is we always procrastinate for example I have been thinking I need to lose some weight so I have been thinking of the diet when I asked when I plan to start it I said the 10th and knowing myself I will keep procrastinating. So because we do not start the year on the right footing we set ourselves up for failure. So in the same way, if we wish to succeed in any of our targets, plans let’s start on the right footing. Gregor Moniuszko wrote on Thrive Global that “By start...

PATIENCE TO MASTER ONE’S PASSION.

PATIENCE THE CAPACITY TO ACCEPT OR TOLERATE DELAY, PROBLEMS, OR SUFFERING WITHOUT BECOMING ANNOYED OR ANXIOUS.

PASSION IS A STRONG LIKING OR DESIRE FOR OR DEVOTION TO SOME ACTIVITY, OBJECT, OR CONCEPT.

So this phrase came to me from absolutely nowhere I mean at this point dear reader you know we don’t question my mind. I have always thought passion and patience were polar opposites. I mean we rarely ever think of someone who is passionate to be patient; there is a sense of urgency we attach to passion always. What we don’t realize is patience and passion go hand in hand. To achieve ones utmost desires sometimes you must exercise a great level of patience.

Amid my research I came across another blog which had looked at this subject fully, the blogger had outlined how both patience and passion come from the same Latin word pati which means to suffer. The blogger went on further to state that passion is cultivated we are not born with it. I found myself at odds with this statement seeing as I have always assumed that people are passionate in what they are gifted in. For me I strongly believe we are born with these gifts but after some thoughts I realized we don’t always pursue what we are gifted in. We see things in this life that spark out interest for example I have developed an interest in macramé.

So to master this art I have found myself interested in, I’m willing to devote endless hours and exercise patience to master the skill. So in the same way dear reader if you find yourself with a strong desire or liking towards an activity object or even concept is willing to exercise patience. Be willing to put in the work as Saadi said “Have patience. All things are difficult before they become easy.” I don’t know what your dreams entail but here I always encourage you to dream big.

“Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star” Clement Stone. Know this that “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” Harriet Tubman. But first as Proverbs 16:3 says ‘Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.’
