NEW YEAR; NEW ME

Hello; it has been a while hope you have been well.   It’s the New Year and for the first time in a while, I didn’t see any new year new me statuses. Have people given up on changing their lives? Or are we overwhelmed by the state of the world which seems to not be changing?  In our capacity, we cannot change the world but what we can change is our look at life. We set targets for new year’s resolutions but we rarely ever get to attain a satisfactory result at the end of the year. The reason for this is we always procrastinate for example I have been thinking I need to lose some weight so I have been thinking of the diet when I asked when I plan to start it I said the 10th and knowing myself I will keep procrastinating. So because we do not start the year on the right footing we set ourselves up for failure. So in the same way, if we wish to succeed in any of our targets, plans let’s start on the right footing. Gregor Moniuszko wrote on Thrive Global that “By starting the day right,

Life is too short

It will not be a trending statement blog if I fail to make mention of the COVID19 pandemic. So I think it's safe to say 2020 has been a very distressing year. The situation with the pandemic has been scary and all so confusing. We found ourselves locked in our own homes, forbidden to step outside and when we were allowed out we had to wear masks, we had to distance from each other. The life we lived pre COVID19 may as well have been a dream because the new normal is something straight out of a horror movie.

The COVID19 pandemic was not only scary and deadly to all of us. I believe amid the inhabitants of the earth a fear like no other gripped us. It caused a mental panic; I know I was afraid of the virus, mostly I was scared to die. Social media didn't seem to help all that much everyone in the world was in the same state of panic. It dawned on me that life is too short, too short to spend it procrastinating, too short to spend it unhappy and most importantly inordinately short to spend it alone. So I looked at my phone, I began making an effort to communicate with friends, family and even those contacts in my phone who I strongly doubt I have met personally. This life is fleeting dear reader to not be at peace with yourself, to not have the joy of loving someone and most importantly to be unhappy with yourself.

My question for today, are you ready for December?

Are you ready to end 2020?

In what state is your heart, mind and spirit?

Are you angry at someone? Forgive them.

Are you angry at yourself? Forgive yourself.

Are your relations strained and you want to fix them? Do that fix those relations take a step.

Do you have something you want to achieve, a resolution you made on the first of January?  Go right ahead and accomplish it.

Stephen Vincent Benét said “Life is not lost by dying; life is lost minute by minute, day by dragging day, in all the thousand small uncaring ways.” So how do you spend your time? procrastinating? seize the moment.

As the bible says in James 4:14 Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Life is too short so find peace within yourself and love others. As William Shakespeare says “life is too short, so live your life to the fullest, every second of your life just treasure it..”
