NEW YEAR; NEW ME

Hello; it has been a while hope you have been well.   It’s the New Year and for the first time in a while, I didn’t see any new year new me statuses. Have people given up on changing their lives? Or are we overwhelmed by the state of the world which seems to not be changing?  In our capacity, we cannot change the world but what we can change is our look at life. We set targets for new year’s resolutions but we rarely ever get to attain a satisfactory result at the end of the year. The reason for this is we always procrastinate for example I have been thinking I need to lose some weight so I have been thinking of the diet when I asked when I plan to start it I said the 10th and knowing myself I will keep procrastinating. So because we do not start the year on the right footing we set ourselves up for failure. So in the same way, if we wish to succeed in any of our targets, plans let’s start on the right footing. Growing Up

Last Sunday; was my birthday; I enjoyed myself thoroughly. Most of the birthday messages sent to me had this little statement "you all grown up now". Naturally, I pondered over the phrase a bit more and questioned whether growing up could be defined just by the number of years I had walked this earth. I concluded that growing up wasn't just about my age it has to do with my state of mind.

Maya Angelou stated that "Most people don't grow up. Most people age. They find parking spaces, honour their credit cards, get married, have children and call that maturity. What that is, is ageing." After reading those words, I now went on to find out what defined maturity. From my research, I understood that maturity was a state of mind reflected in our attitudes and behaviours.

One's ability to learn from mistakes and the attitudes we carry after taking a loss were some of the things that reflect maturity. It's easy to forget that we don't just grow on that one day of the year, that we grow continuously. That the situations we meet daily help us grow to be to be better individuals. From this point on, let us make it a point to learn from yesterdays adventures to ensure success today. "It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are"-E.E. Cummings.

P.S I know my posting schedule has been inconsistent but please bear with me.
